A plague of mysterious origin has swept around the world, killing most of the human population. An ex-Ranger and his thirteen-year-old son are left alone on their farm with no government to rely on. They have taken in refugees, so they may all have a better chance to survive. Together, they farm the land and struggle to feed themselves while guarding against murderous raiders who choose to take from others rather than work for survival. Personal bonds are steeled in a post-apocalyptic world where a friend is defended with your life, a foe fought to the death, and refusing to be a victim demands killing without hesitation.
A son must rely on his father to build a new moral compass in a land of violence. "Dad and I don't quit on each other, and we don't quit on our friends." But despite best efforts, some are lost and others grievously wounded. Their farm is in danger and they face starvation without it.

Apocalypse Law 2 John Grit 9781467969383 Books Reviews
If you're into apocalypse books with a super soldier hero that kills the hordes of marauding, raping, murdering gang members, then you'll probably like this book (hence the four star rating). It's entertaining enough and reads pretty quick. Some apocalypse books offer some practical knowledge and skills embedded in the story. This one doesn't have much in that regard. It's kind of like reading a book about Rambo, if Rambo was stuck in the apocalypse with a son.
Awesome...so far the best post apocalyptic series to date, read by me. Great and memorable characters. One more book left in series, giddy up!
I couldn't put book 1 down and the same with this one. When I read books like this I really try to critique the authenticity of how it could all go down...if you really think of the macro implications of how everything unfolds, you may be able to make a case it is all fantastical, but really, if you are reading these books it's for entertainment and not some non-fiction training course....thumbs up on the action, the drama, the love (yuck!) and all of the friction between Nate and Brian. Good reading, thanks John Grit!
Not as good as the first book, but still worth the read to find out how things end up for the individual characters in the book. You'd not want to live through this nightmare, but can appreacite the tactics used by the farmer and his son to solve problems. An interesting problem arising is what to do with orphans as a community. I really liked the solution these folks in the region came up with. Again, they are faced with the lazy and lawless wanting to take their food and goods from them. And we see how hard it is to protect a bunker at a retreat, even if it is off the beaten path...
Enjoyed the book immensely. A lot of focused action and realistic "could happen" survival activities that emphasize the reality of human nature, both that of kindness and caring, and those attributes of people demonstrating people's selfishness and cruelty to other people. Teamwork and cooperation are brought into play reflecting how, if people work with others and cooperate with them, the continuation of life is possible.
Have already read Apocalypse Law 3 and plan to read the next volume of the series soon.
If you like the first of the series, you will probably like this one, although I read this one first of the three. The plot is familiar- probable bioterrorist attack, everyone dies, society collapses, chaos and bad guys reign, most city people die off or become slaves, but people who have basic survival skills, know how to farm and can take care of themselves will survive and thrive, becoming heroes for the new, more sensible civilization. It's not great literature, but it's well done for the genre, without insulting errors or obnoxious rants. If you are an apocalypse junkie ike me, then this is good stuff. If not- there are much better examples of post apocalypse literature to choose from.
Ok, First, I really enjoyed the book. Characters are well developed. I know these people. When I finished the book, I was wanting the 3rd book. I have two complaints. Number one, His son really gets on my nerves. I find myself wishing he would take a bullet and be out of the story. Number two. Does there really have to be so much the back and forth stuff? I can walk. No you can't. Yes I can. No you can't. Yes I can.....I want to go. No, you can't go. Why can't I go. I said so. But I want to go. No you can't go. Why not? ...etc. etc. etc. Is this just a way to fill up pages? Leave it out and let the book be shorter if you have to. Again, it is still a good apocalyptic book.
